From spring intil autumn you can visit quarry 't Rooth every saturday. This is organised by the 'NGV afdeling Limburg'. You don't have to be a member, and it is free. It is a small quarry, also suitable for children.
During 2009 is digging method has changed. Therefore less limestone is available were fossils can be collected. Also the amount of fossils in the limestones can vary from time to time.

The quarry is located east of Maastricht in the south east of The Netherlands. For instructions and directions, see the website above.

You can find various fossils in quarry 't Rooth: belemnites (i.e. Belemnitella junior), bivalves (i.e. Alectryonia Ungulata), corals, bryozoa, small sponges (Porosphaeridae globularis), sea urchins (i.e. Hemipneustes), shark teeth (rare), foraminifers (i.e. Lepidorbitoides socialis), and serpulids. Crabs (Protocalianassa faujasi) are common.
