Bacteria

Bacteria in the fossil records date back to the Precambrian period. The biggest contributor for bacterial fossil remains are the so called cyanobacteria. Remains can be recognized as accumulated layers of rock which sometimes build up to big bell-shaped structures or stromatolites.
