Comments:
Barroisia is a calcareous sea sponge which lived during the upper Aptian stage. It's a rather common fossil in the famous Faringdon Sponge Gravels in Oxfordshire, UK. It belongs to a group of sponges known as 'sphinctozoas', which means chambered sponges, due to the fact that the sponge is built up of more or less spherical chambers arranged in vertical rows, which can be easily seen in broken tubes.
